Three of NYC’s biggest agencies have put together quick & easy resources for staying compliant. Here’s how you can access them:
HPD’s Digital Bulletin
Housing Preservation and Development is building up their resources for compliance newbies and experts alike. They’ll be posting a series of digital bulletins online (and sending updates to registered property owners and managers via email). Just another good reason to make sure your properties are registered, and re-registered before September of each year.
HPD’s first quarterly bulletin outlines key details and requirements of Local Law 1/2004 – identifying and remediating lead-based paint hazards in apartments with children under the age of 6.

DOHMH Cooling Tower Checklist
If you attended the DOHMH panel at RealFocus 2018, you got a copy of the DOHMH’s comprehensive cooling tower checklist (along with answers to some of your biggest cooling tower questions). Don’t worry if you missed it – we saved you a copy.

2019 Covered Buildings List
Each year the Department of Buildings releases a list of properties required to file Local Law 84 – Benchmarking reports. This is known as the Covered Buildings List. With some exceptions, this year’s list will include properties over 25,000 sq. ft. Keep in mind that the separate requirement for Local Law 87 Energy Audits & Retro-commissioning only applies to properties that are 50,000 sq. ft. and up.
Covered buildings are required to submit their reports by May 1st of each year. Last year’s deadlines were adjusted, so stay tuned for any changes here.
