What if defects are found during the Category 1 inspection?

If defects are found during the inspection, these must be corrected and certified via an Affirmation of Correction (ELV-29). Please note that this is the same form used to correct Elevator PVT (“E-Elevator”) violations.

As of Jan 1, 2022, defects must be corrected within 90 days of the original inspection date (a change from the previous 120). Owners may request 2 45-day extensions. Affirmations of Correction must be filed with the DOB within 14 days of the correction date (a change from the previous 60).
