Local Law 65 was first implemented in 2015, and outlines a fine for subsequent inspections performed at a property. Per the law, if HPD performs two or more complaint-based inspections in the same dwelling unit within a 12-month period, and each inspection has resulted in Class B or C violations, and all such violations have not been certified, then a fee of $200 will be imposed on the third inspection and each subsequent complaint-based inspection performed in the same unit within the same 12-month period.
The department may also increase this fee during Heat Season (October 1st – May 31st).
In order to avoid this fee, it’s imperative to be aware of any open violations and new complaints for each unit.
