Each year (around January 31st), 200 – 250 properties throughout the five boroughs are selected to be in the Alternative Enforcement Program (AEP). Criteria for AEP selection includes the number of open Class B and C violations, as well as the amount of any outstanding ERP charges.
Properties included in the AEP are informed via issuance of a Class I HPD violation, as well as posted notice at the property. Failure to correct qualifying conditions (violations and charges) within the first 4 months of program inclusion may result in additional ERP charges, liens, and fines.
You can access more information about the AEP (including published lists of each year’s participating buildings) here.
