What is heat season?

Heat season lasts from October 1 – May 31st of each year. During this time, heat must be provided to all residents per the following guidelines:

  • Between the hours of 6:00 AM and 10:00 PM, if the outside temperature falls below 55 degrees, the inside temperature is required to be at least 68 degrees Fahrenheit; and,
  • Between the hours of 10:00 PM and 6:00 AM, the inside temperature is required to be at least 62 degrees Fahrenheit at all times. (This is a change from previous heating seasons).

Failure to adhere by these standards can result in violations, which must be corrected immediately. Any open heat violations may result in ongoing fines, from $250 – 1,000 per day.
