HPD Enforcement Programs

What is HPD Litigation?

HPD Litigation is a means of housing code enforcement, and can result from uncorrected HPD violations or a tenant-initiated suit.

There are several different types of cases heard in the Housing Litigation Division, ranging from lack of heat or hot water to issuance of a Certificate of No Harassment. You can read more about case examples here.

For information about a specific HPD Litigation case, contact the Housing Litigation Division at (212) 863-8200, or the Information Hotline: 212-962-4795. You can also review HLD’s information for landlords here.
