DOB Delays Energy Efficiency Rating Labels To December 2025

The Department of Buildings just announced a delay for this year’s Energy Efficiency Rating Labels.

Typically, EERs are available October 1st each year. Teams can log into DOB NOW to download their building’s EER and post it as required “in a conspicuous location near each public entrance to their buildings.”

Per their Service Notice, the deadline for 2025 has been pushed back. EER labels will now be available starting December 1st, and must be printed and posted no later than December 31st, 2025. The Service Notice clarifies that this delayed period applies to 2025 only, so we shouldn’t expect this change for future years.

Failure to print and post this EER within that timeframe may result in a violation, with a per-property penalty of $1,250.

We’ll keep you posted if there are additional changes here. You can reach out to the DOB at Help@NYCsustainability.org with any questions, or the DOB’s steps to compliance here.
