FDNY Permit Accounts and Certificates of Fitness

What is an FDNY permit account (equipment use permit)?

An FDNY permit account (also sometimes referred to as equipment use permit) is a building-level permit tied to a piece of equipment or permission from the FDNY. Common types include range hoods, A/C units, Public Assembly, sprinkler/standpipes, fire alarms, and more.

Permit accounts typically have expiration and renewal dates, and require periodic payment and/or inspections to maintain. Each specific type of permit account has its own requirements and processes.
